Have you ever seen Perfect Lives, Jim? It's kind of tangentially related to this posting, although it contains no cake as far as I can see. It's by Robert Ashley, who you may have heard of. I saw it in the late 80's and now it's on a DVD from a place called lovely music. There's not enough room to describe it here, but if you don't know of it you might be in for a treat. Really really.
I was over at Youtube, looking at the deepest fractal zoom they've made so far. It made me ... dizzy, for lack of better words. I thought of your work, mr. Woodring, and went over here to give you a link if you'd like to see it.

And yes, I do believe I know what you mean. I was indeed thinking that I thought I knew what you meant when you say, precisely, "if you know what I mean".
So thanks for that.
In icelandic, the word for "coincidence" is "tilviljun". It's a compound word, composed of "til", which means 'to', and "viljun", which means an act of will. Beautiful old language.

Either that, or simply a philosophical "moth towards the flame" phenomenon.
It sounds like you said, "I vandalized my own life...."
ReplyDelete...and I would like to add that I've found that life is no piece of cake, but so far, it's certainly been a slice (forgive me).
ReplyDeleteWow, Im very excited that you have a link to your brain with this blog. Thanks for showing us more. A huge fan.
