The way it unfolded was something. The shapes in the drawings were unrecognizable as anything relating to the natural world until they began to synch up toward the end and form figures. The final image, of two supplicants approaching an exalted personage, worked as a drawing; and the music entered a final ethereal segment as the symbols representing the different orientations of the side figures appeared in the sky; and then it ended just as the last stroke was put down. I realize that sounds like a lot of pretentious hogwash but I swear to God that's exactly what happened. It was flabbergasting to me how it all came about.

I'm assuming the audience could see what you were sketching on a display; any in-progress shots?
ReplyDeleteMan I hope you give this another try. I saw the Mysterioso show in Seattle a couple years back and it was fantastic. Was this announced anywhere other than in Brooklyn? Cheers - db.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see some pics of the art from this experience!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Jim Woodring in my own backyard -- drawing live and in person -- and I miss it! Damn It.
ReplyDeleteI would also second or third the motion to publish the resulting art. But maybe it is a case where you had to be there? In which case I would understand, with only minor gnashing of teeth.
ReplyDeleteThanks and best wishes,
Peter Urkowitz
That's such an awesome idea. Live music is something special, to be sure, but live music WITH live drawing? This needs to become a serious thing.
