That's funny -- even though you draw unwholesome things, I've never thought of your art as unwholesome. In fact, I'm not sure the shit you draw is unwholesome.
Funny Beksinski should be mentioned -- he's another artist who makes me feel the way you do. I'd put you two in the same category -- Jim, do you like his work?
Actually, seeing your work in progress like this makes me more likely to draw. When I only see the finished images they are much, MUCH more intimidating technically.
jim, what is it about frogs that seems to fascinate you so much it has become such a recurring image in most of your art? pardon me for being ignorant.
Are you sure that firecracker is attached to a seedpod rather than a clutch of frog eggs? Not to encourage ovacidal thinking - but, well, it sort of looks like frog eggs to me.
The first thing I thought of when trying to understand this picture was that the desiccated body in the tree was the "mother" of the... whatever it is.
The frogs are merely trying to keep something bad from procreating. Or maybe it's the frogs that are bad.
Remember, frogs' eggs have to be immersed in order to hatch. Clearly the frogs sent in this one poor guy to wrest control of the delicious fruit from the skeletal monitor in the tree above -- from their angle behind the rocks they didn't see the firecracker initially.
Jim! your pic of the skeletal figure in the tree actually reminded me of a woodcut I have a copy of, either by Durer or lucas cranach, or even albrecht altdorfer
