A WORD OF EXPLANATION
A concerned frankophile and toy collector writes, " I feel I must have a set of those black-and-white Frank and Pups standettes, and as an informed fledgling art collector I realize that the letterpress prints that accompany the deluxe versions are a steal. But I have very little wall space in my Tokyo apartment, and finding room to hang or store the prints is just too difficult."
Oh no it isn't! These prints, though made from full-sized drawings, have been reduced so that they fit into the boxes the standettes come in.; that is, the Frank print is 4.75" x 7" and the Pups print is 4.75" square. Printed on Arches paper, they come bagged with a stiff sheet of protective acid free paper.
And I must reiterate; what beauts they are! You can perhaps see in the illustrations above the relief created by the deep impressions of the copper plates into the paper. This explains the uniquely sumptuous clarity of these little masterpieces of the printer's arcane craft. You can find out more at http://jimwoodring.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/index.html
I've seen these lilliputian Lovelies myself and can shout in agreement that they are undoubtedly a pair of aces! And you don't have to hang them- just store them under your bed and paw at them every night before bed to make your dreams wriggle like a corn snake on a hot plate.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt- a home without these prints is a home that should be torn down and buried in wet concrete.
Did you ever read those dream winners on Shinders.com?
ReplyDeleteA home without those prints is a home in name only, a home which if you put Truth Eye Drops in your eyes, crinkled the lids to even out the distribution of moisture across the surface of each orb, then opened them and looked around, would reveal itself to be a hollow, dismal cave inside of which bats flittered and flew in complete and horrible leisure as, below, rough troglodytes that were your loved ones were revealed to you to be, in their truest form, carpet-haired beasts issuing muttering streams of stink from every orifice as they squatted on the floor roasting black and damp pieces of redolant meat over a fire that was mostly smoke.
ReplyDeleteYou can use that for the ads if you like, Jim.
