About Me
- Name: Jim Woodring
- Location: Seattle, Washington, United States
I was born in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California and enjoyed an exciting childhood full of poetry and paroniria among the snakes, rats and tarantulas of that enchanted realm. I eventually grew into an inquisitive bearlike man who has had three exciting careers; garbage collector, merry-go-round-operator and cartoonist. Some of my work is collected in THE BOOK OF JIM, THE FRANK BOOK and SEEING THINGS (all published by Fantagraphics) and in various toys, fabrics, prints and urban legends. Thank you for your interest.

Jim, I don't think I ever knew taht you had had a career as a merry-go-round operator.
Yes, at the Griffith Park merry-go-round in Los Angeles, during the various Summers of Love.
...but ossifer, I'm not drinking and driving. I'm drinking, THEN driving...and drinking AFTER driving...
Jim's career has since careened over to Brain-Go-Round operator. Mine, at least!
Gotta start 'em young with the booze so they get used to it!
I think you're the first merry go round operater I've ever "met."
Where do you get your inspiration? is it just your own fantasy?
There's nothing worse than a happy outcome from a lousy manouver.
