LET'S CRINGE!

Dusty Wright has posted a video interview with your Uncle Jim that he made at the Scott Eder Gallery last week. I can't watch it myself, but my manager says I have to post this link to it because, as he puts it, "So you're a jerk. So what? Promo is promo." Point taken.

I really enjoyed it. Honest and unpretentious. The working giant pen sounds pretty neat.

Hmm. The link should be purple. That's the way it looks here anyhow. Sorry for the confusion.

Jerk?!? I think not! Glad to seeing you looking good and doing well old friend!
Giant dip pens? yes indeed, back when I actually could draw a little, before the computer, a nice Gilotte nib was my favorite, but I never had the "chops" (or imagination) for a 5 foot version...

Uncle Jimmy,

Congratulations on the interview. Unfortunately, the interviewer didn't seem to know very much about you or your work and kept trying to overlay his perceptions of the work on the interview--calling it "subversive," trying to tie the work to DC/Marvel, etc. I would hope someone that runs an arts interview show would do a little more research and ask questions that allow the artist to ruminate a little more. But, like your manager said, promo is promo.

It's summer friday here in Queens so I'm out of this sad office in 16 minutes. I'm going down to Scott Eder to look at the show this afternoon. I bought and love Weathercraft.

I didn't mean to fault the interviewer, who was a nice guy. It's my performance that gets me down.
