About Me
- Name: Jim Woodring
- Location: Seattle, Washington, United States
I was born in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California and enjoyed an exciting childhood full of poetry and paroniria among the snakes, rats and tarantulas of that enchanted realm. I eventually grew into an inquisitive bearlike man who has had three exciting careers; garbage collector, merry-go-round-operator and cartoonist. Some of my work is collected in THE BOOK OF JIM, THE FRANK BOOK and SEEING THINGS (all published by Fantagraphics) and in various toys, fabrics, prints and urban legends. Thank you for your interest.

Could you give some info on the size of these paintings and the method used (oils, acrylics, etc)?
This is from a set of four, all 28" x 20", oil on canvas, painted this year.
Thnks for yr interest, Bwanasonic.
just exceptional.
it must be even better in person.
another in your ongoing adventure that exceeds all expectations.
wow.
that's happened to me alot.
gorgeous - love the lighting in this one.
Yeah, the light's perfect, as if the water is faintly glowing from moonlight. That IS a moon, right?
Yes, it's a moon.... Looney, the moon.
Ah, yes; "Looney, the Moon", quoth a certain illustrious Kat. I echo the previous comments - this one is just stunning, and the lighting is amazing. It was moonlight reflecting off the monster's teeth that inspired me to post a comment.
Ecstatic-ism run amok! Truly spiritual suspension of ecstasy. By the by, are you familiar with the work of Ron Nagle - I feel a heavy kinship in both your manifestations. He makes ceramic objects of abstraction that easily keep pace with your bestiary. Bravo!
