About Me
- Name: Jim Woodring
- Location: Seattle, Washington, United States
I was born in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California and enjoyed an exciting childhood full of poetry and paroniria among the snakes, rats and tarantulas of that enchanted realm. I eventually grew into an inquisitive bearlike man who has had three exciting careers; garbage collector, merry-go-round-operator and cartoonist. Some of my work is collected in THE BOOK OF JIM, THE FRANK BOOK and SEEING THINGS (all published by Fantagraphics) and in various toys, fabrics, prints and urban legends. Thank you for your interest.

My sources suggest that this painting was a work-for-hire for a pamphlet published by the American Rubber Sheet Manufacturers Association.
The picture is adorable, and so is stefan's comment.
I love When that happens!
nice as nice is
that gaping girlmaw looks familiarly Woodringesque.
Why is the name of the camp obscured? Surely the secret lies within.
I would give anything if I could have the genius to caption a picture like that.
It does look horribly Norman Rockwellian...
Stefan's comment wins the internet!
It was the night... THE NIGHT OF THE COW!
I am curious to know exactly what element of this painting you find so thrilling. I like it, but I'm afraid I'd be likely to pass it by in a series of works.
Now that you've drawn attention to it, I see some interesting things, though I certainly wouldn't trade my nuggets for the ability to produce it.
That is...unless you tune me in!
*throws nuggets*
